Litecoin
Litecoin (LTC) is a decentralized, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open-source software project, created in 2011 by former Google engineer Charlie Lee. It was designed as a faster and more efficient alternative to Bitcoin, with a block generation time of 2.5 minutes, compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes. Litecoin uses the Scrypt hashing algorithm, which is more memory-intensive and was initially intended to prevent dominance by large-scale mining operations. The cryptocurrency has a maximum supply of 84 million coins, four times that of Bitcoin, and is known for its lower transaction fees and faster transaction confirmations. Litecoin is often referred to as "the silver to Bitcoin's gold" and is widely used for everyday transactions and micropayments due to its speed and efficiency. It has also integrated optional privacy features through the MimbleWimble upgrade, enhancing transaction privacy.
